Easter Island Statue
(Waterbury,
Connecticut)
Excerpts from Kristy:
We
were prepared for an adventure when we set out to see the
Easter Island statues in the Courtyard of the Time-Expo Museum.
The Roadside America tip had said, “In complete defiance
of the public photo op concept, visitors are not allowed to
take pictures of this "attraction" without advance
permission from Mall management! Don't be surprised if a security
guard drives up and tries to spoil your shot.”
The museum was closed, so we weren't able to go inside
and take close-up shots, but shooting through the fence probably
worked best as it was far enough away to get a shot of the
whole statue. We arrived here on a Sunday morning. We parked
right next to the fence around the statue and prepared our
cameras.
Imagining something out of Keystone Cops, we moseyed over
to the fence and exclaimed over the size, detail and general
coolness factor of this Roadside Attraction. Glancing around
to the empty parking lot (did we mention it was 8 am on a
Sunday morning?) we started snapping photos. We ran up and
down the fence trying to get the best possible angle. I don't
know if it was the thrill or simple defiance, but I have more
shots of this ‘Easter Island Statue' than any
other attraction on our entire Connecticut adventure!
