5 Foot Spinning Ear of Corn
                  (Coon Rapids, Iowa)

                  Excerpts from Roadchick K:
The Five-Foot Spinning Ear of Corn came at the end of a long hard day.  It was a 10 mile detour after having already seen 12 attractions that day.  Sitting alongside the road the corn spins on its axis welcoming you to Coon Rapids.
We made the detour and pulled off the road into a parking lot to photographically document the largest ear of corn we had yet to see in Iowa.
On a side note, this is probably the largest ear of corn in the world from what we can tell.  We thought for sure that Iowa would have a giant specimen of corn for us to behold, but while we found reports that one town is looking into building said monstrosity, no one has actually gone ahead and done it yet.
The corn is exactly what it looks like, a 5-Foot tall ear spinning on a pole.  It’s a bit reminiscent of an overgrown miniature golf course piece.  I almost expected to see brightly colored golf balls rolling out from under it.  However, there is a golf course next door to the sign (a real golf course) and some of the golfers were stopping to stare at the two crazy girls taking photos of the town sign.
