Las Vegas, Nevada
(Egyptians,
Marshmallows & Slot Machines)
Excerpts from Kristy:
June 13-15, 1998
We
were sucked into the glittery world of Vegas like a speck
of dirt into a vacuum cleaner. We were in Vegas less than
an hour when we started to test our luck on the one-armed
bandits. In one day, we managed to walk to and look at 12
different casinos. We met my parents in Vegas and my Dad won
$1,000 at a slot machine in the Barbary Coast.
Besides the gambling, Vegas offers some of the most unbelievable
sites. We stayed in the Luxor, an Egyptian-themed hotel. Our
room had a slanting window, as do all the rooms, because of
the pyramid shape of the hotel. We rode a roller coaster through
New York, watched pirates sink a ship, witnessed a battle
between Poseidon's children and saw a fire-breathing dragon
- all in one night.
Right
outside of the city, we visited Ocean Spray Cranberry World
West, where you can sample every conceivable combination of
cranberries and fruit juice. We watched them make Ethel M
chocolates by hand and stopped by the Marshmallow factory.
Endless activities and catchy Americana pervade every part
of Vegas. This is a must see for Roadside America fans.
