Grand Canyon National Park
(Dizzying

Excerpts from Beth:
June 12, 1998
Ready
to escape the humidity of the Gulf Coast and the dry heat
of the desert, I was psyched for the Grand Canyon. As we were
driving the long, winding route to the North Rim, I wondered
if it was really worth it to get to the "other side,"
because the South Rim was right there. . . But when we got
to our campsite right in the park, I knew it was worth it.
Being a Montana-girl, I know that I belong in the forest.
The Grand Canyon was phenomenal. Walking along the rim and
daring to peek down into the chasm gave me chills. Someday
I'd love to take the climb down. When we finally reached the
lookout at the end of the trail, the wind was whipping and
if I stood at the very edge, I felt like I was about 3 inches
tall and flying. The canyon humbled me.
