Calvin Coolidge Homestead
(Plymouth
Notch, Vermont)
Excerpts from Kristy:
We
went here before the election of 2000 really heated up. But,
I can tell you that if Calvin Coolidge lived today, I would
vote him into office in a second. "Silent Cal" as
he was known, was said to be quiet (wouldn't have guessed
that, would you?) He listened to what people had to say. This
site not only portrays a president to be proud of, but provides
a look into the early 1900s in Vermont.
Coolidge lived here off and on his entire life. And the site
itself is a small town which includes a cheese factory, a
church, a post office, Coolidge's birthplace and the home
he grew up in. Definitely worth the stop. Tour at your own
pace, enjoy more beautiful scenery and ask the friendly volunteers
questions.
